AKWA STARLETS of UYO on Wednesday lost at home 1-2 to former NPFL champions KANO PILLARS in a pulsating MATCH DAY 6 encounter at the GODSWILL AKPBABIO INTERNATION STADIUM in UYO.

The MAISUGIDA opened scoring in the 27th minute of the first half through NYIMA NWAGUA.

The home team tried to no avail to find an equalizer in the first 45minutes of the encounter.

However, MOSES EFFIONG brought smiles to the faces of the home fans in the 75th minute of the encounter with a goal but that joy was short-lived as NYIMA NWAGUA got his second goal to make it 1-2 in favour of the visitors in what proved to be the winner for KANO PILLARS.

The boys from KANO held on to the lead to emerge winners of the encounter.

AKWA STARLETS now sits in third position on the NIGERIAN PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE(NPFL) log table with 11pts behind both PLATEAU UNITED of JOS who is tops the table with 14pts and WIKKI TOURISTS of BAUCHI who is second  with 13pts.

KANO PILLARS however is occupying the 15th position on the table with just 6points.                 

  KANO PILLARS will host DELTA FORCE of ASABA in their home ground, the SANNI ABACHA STADIUM, Kano on Sunday ,8 December at 4pm while  AKWA STARLETS will be away to  ABIA WARRIORS at UMUAHIA TOWNSHIP STADIUM .
