The President of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, HONOUR SIRAWOO has commended the Federal Government for commencing the renovation of the newly renamed MKO ABIOLA INTERNATIONAL Stadium, Abuja.

SIRAWOO, in an interview with in Abuja on Tuesday said, he was happy that the FG has finally responded to the yearning of critical sports stakeholders that the $200 MILLION  worth edifice be fixed to befit the late African pillar of sports, MKO ABIOLA.

“On Monday I saw some men who came to the stadium and removed anthill that almost took over the field before them and today (Tuesday) they have start streaming the grasses on the field, I think that is a good omen, considering the fact that this edifice has been lying dilapidated over times now.

“What the FG has demonstrated here is to show responsiveness over the yearning of the masses and I think it’s good.

“But, I want to warn that it must not remain here on the cutting of the grasses alone because the entire main bowl is on a sorry stage, so let the renovation go round at least to befit the late African pillar of sports, MKO Abiola,” he concluded.

It will be recalled that, PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI on June 12th, 2019 announced the renaming of former ABUJA INTERNATIONAL STADIUM to MKO ABIOLA INTERNATIONAL STADIUM, to immortalize the doyen of Nigerian recent democracy.
