RANGERS FOOTBALL CLUB of ENUGU has won the 2018 AITEO CUP after coming from three goals down against KANO PILLARS in a pulsating encounter at the STEPHEN  KESHI  STADIUM  in ASABA to equalize and eventually won 4-2 on penalties.

KANO PILLARS dominated the first half and were rewarded with two goals in the 5th and 19th minutes through veteran RABIU ALI and AL-HASSAN IBRAHIM while NYIMA NWAGUA put PILLARS three goal up in the 48th minute of the second half.

RANGERS FC inspired changes resulted in the epic comeback with KELVIN ITOYA and AJANI  IBRAHIM and  NANA BONSU putting up brave performances. .

KELVIN  ITOYA  reduced the tally in the 77th minute while  CHIDERA EZEH scored the second in the 82nd minute.

AJANI IBRAHIM completed the comeback in the dying minutes of the game with a brave flying header.

The match went into penalties and RANGERS were cool and calm in the six yard box to converts four of their penalties as against two from KANO PILLARS, 4-2 it ended.

The FLYING  ANTELOPES now has six FA title to their trophy cabinet and a first since 1983.  In addition the team from the COAL CITY won a cash prize of $69,000(25million naira) and a chance to represent Nigeria in next year’s CAF CONFEDERATION CUP.

Meanwhile in the women edition of the AITEO CUP, RIVERS  ANGELS  of PORT-HARCOURT defeated IBOM ANGELS  of UYO 1-0 to record a second straight victory.
